Something's out of whack...and it's not that mole at the arcade.
Compare:
1. Indiana man 20 years in prison for selling 2 pills of Oxycontin.
2. Canadian man gets six years for brutally beating a gay man to death in a park.
Boy, I'm sure glad we have that whole "war on drugs" thing, it seems to be working perfectly. I certainly feel safe knowing that he'll be in prison 20 years for a non-violent offense, yet an extremely violent man will be out in a few. I can now sleep easy at night.
Even more disturbing is this discussion on Metafilter where several people think that 20 years is a sufficient and appropriate penalty. What have we come to in this country?
