So the Super Bowl could have been a bit better if it weren't for a few bad calls going against Seattle. I admit that. But it also could have been better if the ads didn't suck as much.
It appears as if GoDaddy attempted to spice things up a bit, with the help of Madison's own ProVideo, but nearly all of their ads got censored by ABC. You can see these 'outrageous' Super Bowl ads at Google and see that the GoDaddy rejects weren't really that extreme. Surprise, surprise.
Of even more interest is that ABC used a 5 second delay to censor the Rolling Stones at halftime. That's right, classic rock songs that have been heard by nearly everyone on the face of the planet over the past 30 years needed to be censored to protect our virgin ears. God help us if we ever see a boob or hear the word "come" or "cocks" on television.
The songs? "Start Me Up" and "Rough Justice."
START ME UP, CENSORED You, you, you make a grown man cry You, you make a dead man c***
ROUGH JUSTICE, CENSORED One time you were my baby chicken Now you've grown into a fox And once upon a time I was your little rooster Am I just one of your c****?
Even weirder? That people over the age of 45 were initially banned from hearing the Stones at halftime. Apparently only young ears could handle those horribly vulgar lyrics. What makes this especially funny is the age of the Stones themselves - Jagger is nearly 63 himself and "the youngest member of the veteran rock performers is 58, while the band has a combined age of 246."
