Whoa.
Rumor has it that Will Ferrell is in the midst of filming a movie about...NASCAR. Ferrell wrote it himself, and it is being co-directed by Will and Adam McKay ("Anchorman"). Currently, the working titles for the film are either "High, Wide, and Handsome" or "Talladega Nights." Here's the premise:
Ricky Bobby (Ferrell) is a go-for-broke race car driver, who in races either finishes first or doesn't finish at all. Unhappy with these results, Bobby's team owner brings over Jean Girard, a French Formula One driver, who quickly becomes Bobby's biggest rival.
I've got to say I'm stoked. For as much as I can't stand to watch this "sport," I'll love to see the entire culture lampooned by Mr. Ferrell. A few photos have popped up around the web, and they look to be pretty sweet. Unfortunately though, not much information has appeared on IMDb yet.
Additionally, Aziz Ansari says he heard a rumor that Ferrell's character ("Ricky Bobby") will have two kids named "Walker" and "Texas Ranger." Perfect.
