Progress for $100 laptop

Following up on a previous post:
Nicholas Negroponte, founder of the MIT Media Lab and Wired Magazine, has a mission - produce hand-cranked laptops priced around $100 for the world's children to use. And he's just about there, after just having demonstrated his prototype to the UN.

It looks like the idea is making progress.
Taiwan's Quanta, the world's largest maker of notebook computers, will manufacture an ultra-low-cost laptop developed by Nicholas Negroponte, the chairman of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab.

Here is more info on the prototype.

Sweet!
