The Mason Show

Well, thanks to Nick's post yesterday, I found out at about 5 pm that Mason Jennings was in town last night. Around 6 pm, he did a quick five or six songs by himself at the local Tower Records, then signed some autographs. Later that night, J and I went to see Mason at a local venue, 3rd and Lindsley (who apparently has some pretty good acts, like Matt Costa next weekend). The opener was Teddy Thompson who was also quite enjoyable. Then Mason rocked the house with the four piece band. The bass player (Chris Morrissey) was the same as last time I had seen him, but the rest of the line up had changed. Also, both of the acts were broadcast live on a local radio station, for a Monday night edition of their regular "Nashville Sunday Night" live music.
Overall, good show, but perhaps the best part of the night was meeting the other people at our table, who gave us a heads up on how to find our more about the local (non-country) music scene.
